First and foremost the rules:
- Must be @ least 13 years old. It is a teen site.
- No sites containing pornography or links to such sites
- No sites containing content contibuting to the mistreatment
or abuse of children or links to such sites
- No hacker information
- No content dealing with racial slur or racial sites, promoting
illegal activity, alcohol, gambling, tobacco, drugs.
- The site must be in English or have a link to an English version
There are three different types of awards that AYBT offers:
Sites are judged based on the following criteria:
Design
This defines sites that exhibit good layouts.
The colors are eye friendly and the text is easy to read. The
graphics show and there are alt tags for the ones that don't. The
navigation is simple and there is a home link on each page. Each
page within the site is easily accessible and there are no
confusing links. The design should also be original and not
mirrored from another site.
Content
Sites offer free informative content to their visitors. They are
arranged in categories so they can be easily found. They can be
humorous, resourceful, useful, helpful, enjoyable, and fun. The site
must also be updated regularly. All these components figure into a
site with good content. It should keep you reading and clicking.
Overall
Overall sites should that contain both a good
layout as well as good content. They meet all the above criteria
and the site is interesting enough that visitors will keep coming
back to see what's new.
In addition to each description each site must have:
- No broken links
- Not too much Java or Flash (For loading time purposes)
- No under construction sites
- No spelling errors
