I think Nick had the right idea. I dont know why everyone is telling people to shut up and complaining that their opinion is the right one this is an opinion question everyone is going to think differently. This isnt a Communist site, I think... anyways people need to face it that they are both lyrically challenged artists and sellouts. They both have a sort of punkish image but when your as popular as they are you arnt punk, your pop-rock or pop-punk. Greenday's songs i think are slightly catchy but most of them mean little at all. They are both major sellouts trying to look punk but rack in as much cash and publicity as possible. I mean how can you say your punk when you dont write songs about politics? They should take a note from Black Flags. They could at least ACT like they dont give a damn. Sex Pistols are still rockin and they have the biggist attitude you'll see, a kind of jackass in your face feel that a select crowd will listen to, which is why they're punk. Anarchy in the U.K. come on thats punk, EMI? anybody? that stuff rocks. In the end, when you can find someone with a Greenday or a Simple Plan song on their ipods (which is a horrible device that will ruin the music industry as we know it) and have a Hillary Duff, Brittaney Spears, or 50cent song on their ipods then thats a sellout. You also sell out when you make you own cologne ***cough Greenday cough cough*****

Personally, i prefer Green Day. Though all their albums are awesome, i think Nimrod was the best. Insomniac...not so much...noth their best effort, aside from a few songs (stuck with me, brainstew/jaded, walking contradiction). But lately they've kinda sold out...but American Idiot did send out a message. Mostly it was "F*** you Bush, f*** you everyone else", but it was still a message. my favorite was Saint Jimmy. my only other favortie bands are My Chemical Romance, Rise Against and Avenged Sevenfold. The world owes me so f*** you.

Two songs on simple plans album no pads no helmets just balls or something like that had altered intros of sweet child of mind i can not think of the songs names off the top of my head though. I liked greendays song time of your life but asides from that they have not written a good song since then. They're music is very predictive and repeditive and their lyrics are terribly arranged.
