In My Dreams

One bright sunny day
I looked at the sky
And saw big puffy clouds floating on by.
I lay on the grass
And look up above
Wow! I think I'm in love!
I lay there but a moment
And drifted to sleep
In less than a moment I was counting sheep.
It was a really good dream
If I remembered it right
I was lifting off to an unknown height.
I dreamed of working for NASA
And travelling oh so far
And passing through the Milky Way and
admiring every star.
First stop: Mercury
The planet that's oh so hot
Close enough to see the sun and its great,
big, giant sunspot.
Now off to Venus
And it's awful greenhouse effect
But you must stay away in order to inspect.
The moon is coming up now
And it's getting awfully big
Kind of like a tractor trailer truck and
its big ole' rig.
Moving right along
To explore thie awesome terrain
To see what wonders this planet may contain.
Moving on to Jupiter
Where everything is gas
Because it is, this planet, we have to pass.
Next we're off to Saturn
Three planets to go
Passing, going on by, with nothing to go home
and show.
Uranus
How very very interesting
Did you know that it has at least one ring?
Off to Neptune
Where everything is blue
And smells like an old dirty shoe...
Pluto-the unexplored
Where everything remains a mystery
All throughout human history.
We've passed all the planets
What now you ask?
It wasn't easy; it was a very hard task!
Now out past the Milky Way
Where not much is known
And absolutely nobody has flown.
Time to turn around
But I don't want to leave
Through the planets I must once again weave.
Passing the planets
One by one
Until I come as close as I dare to the sun.
Time to go home
And plant my feet on the ground
Back home on Earth-safe and sound!
It's time to wake up
The flight was quite successful
Even though it was quite stressful.
I would like to keep dreaming
And have this dream never end
Although to continue would with nature
contend.
So for now I'll stick to dreaming
And hoping that one day it will be my turn
To go into space and learn what I can learn
